Degrowth Network Melbourne Camp at Maldon

Around ten Degrowth Network Melbourne (DNM) campers at Butts Reserve in Maldon 24–30 April 2024 appreciated the local ecological and social environs and collaborated with Degrowth Network Australia on a range of activities, including:

• cutting firewood
• planting fava beans (Vicia faba) and enjoying a fava bean based lunch
• toasting dumpster-dived bread
• fireside discussions
• a no-talent night
• visiting Castlemaine’s Lot 19 to admire the facilities there and the Opening Doors project ‘Home’ exhibition of photographs and text by Paul Dunn who was on site to chat
• checking out the Good Op Shop, the Salvage Yard and three tiny houses being built in the Lewis Drive Castlemaine complex
• enjoying Castlemaine Pride 2024 events in central Castlemaine
• taking a Eudaemonia walk led by Peter Yates
• engaging in discussions and exercises associated with the DCV Essentials Research project (see Collective Sufficiency).
